Be Black Friday ready

…with monochrome.

Yes we all know that Black Friday is only a couple of days away and in honour of this bargain filled event, here’s my best pics of the monochrome trend.

I’ll be buying the black cape from H&M at an incredible £50, perfect for being on trend this winter. I also love the check skirt, which would be ideal with knee high boots and a chunky cable knit, £20 from New Look. Finally, if you are looking for something more daring and want to make a statement this Christmas, go for the tulle ballet skirt from Net-a-Porter, £140.

Monochrome is going nowhere so make sure you stock up!

The best of the bobbles

They come in all shapes, sizes, colours and fabrications, bobble hats are back with a vengeance.

Ive already got mine but I will definitely be stocking up on a few more, there’s nothing like being cold in the height of winter. Below are my pick of the high street: I really love the twist on the classic with two bobbles, £22 from Accessorize, mix it up with a true multicoloured Pom Pom, £12 from Joy or go one step further with a pearl bobble, £120 from Undercover at Selfridges.

Have you found your perfect bobble hat yet?

November must have.. The leopard boot!

Definitely on my wish list this year is a leopard print boot!

They are eye catching and daring but will transform any outfit, especially chunky winter knitwear.

  1. H&M, £25. 2. Saint Laurant, £915. 3. French Connection, £98. 4. Topshop, £92. 5. Charlotte Russe, £28. 6. Sam Edelman, £105.

Which will you choose?

Craving Corduroy

Yes I did just say Corduroy, the once outdated, strange texture that doesn’t make any garment look good.. Until now.

I’ve seen a few people brave the cord when I’ve been out and about which has peaked my interest somewhat. Now the day has finally come as Topshop are first to catch onto the trend spanning from dresses to jeans. However this new take on cord is fresh and appealing! Hurrah!

Here are my favourites from Topshop’s new collection…

image1. A-line buttoned skirt £30, a new take on suede and perfect for sunny days or thrown on with tights for the arrival of Autumn. 2. Burgundy skinny jeans £42, coloured jeans are also making their mark on the high street so this tackles both trends in one. 3. Patterned cord crop top £42, is this even cord? Yes! If your not convinced on cord then this is perfect for you. 4. Tan pinafore dress £50, I love the school dress nod in this cute dress, perfect for festivals or layering. 5. Printed 70’s mini skirt £42, again it doesn’t even look like cord, the autumnal colours are perfect for any occasion. 6. Black bomber jacket £48, I love this jacket! It’s cool and would compliment any outfit, ideal to throw on!

It’s not only the high street that’s catching on, recently Miley Cyrus was seen in Free People cord dungarees whilst she was out and about. One for the boys too, Nick Jonas was spotted wearing a cord suit during a recent shoot. Keep your eyes peeled and I’m sure in a few months you too will be sporting something cord.

Do you think cord is fashion genius or fashion faux pas?

Splurge v Steal Sophia Webster

I have just spotted these and had to share them with you.

If you haven’t heard of Sophia Webster, she designs absolutely beautiful shoes that you wouldn’t dare leave the house in. She also has amazing bags and accessories for every occasion!

However I have just seen an ASOS copycat version of her conversational speech bubble shoes. They aren’t as fabulous as the real deal but for a fraction of the price I would definitely purchase the ASOS ones.

AW15 Self Portrait

You may have heard of this incredible brand but if you haven’t, you have now!

Full of interesting lace and macrame, this designer brand really knows how to bring elegance and quirkiness to simple silhouettes. I love the uniqueness of the designs and the transparent sections that create illusions. The colours are vibrant and exciting and offer something unique to the market. The price points aren’t cheap but it really is worth those hard earned pennies.
My all time favourite piece is the Liliana Dress. With a cute collar and see through sections, this midi dress with little lace sleeves is a must have that you can’t find anywhere else, not even a knock off copycat version!image

The new AW15 collection is already online to preorder so get your name on the list before it’s too late. Here the cream of the crop, find them at http://www.self-portrait-studio.com

The Gladiator Edit

Whether they’re short or long, buckles or lace ups, gladiator sandals are the shoe to buy this summer!

They come in all colours and shapes to suit every style and for every occasion. Personally I do think the long length versions may become tiresome and lose their novelty value but they do look great at a festival or on holiday, but just watch the tan lines! If your not sure either, go for a simple short style in a vibrant metallic or statement white. There’s even the option to combat cold winter nights with the shoe options.
Here are my top ten from the high street right now! Which are your favourite?

1. Dorothy Perkins, £32.  2. Aldo, £39.  3. Aldo, £58.  4. New Look, £20.  5. Topshop, £39.

6. Steve Madden, £58.  7. Carvela, £130.  8. H&M, £20.  9. Topshop, £29.  10. Zara, £19.

Vivienne Westwood X Cambridge Satchel

imageWhen I thought my love for Cambridge Satchels couldn’t become any greater I came across the collaboration with the world renound satchel company and top designer Vivienne Westwood. The simplicity of the print beautifully compliments the three available sizes and three bold colour combinations, everyone will have their own favourite. Available online or in Vivienne Westwood boutiques, I would grab your fave before they sell out. Prices start from £115, almost justifiable!
If your not tempted by the prints, here are my favourite statement satchels from the collection.

WARNING: There is currently a 50% off sale so it may leave you with empty pockets.

Feeling daring: Go for the fluoro satchel which will turn heads and surely brighten your wardrobe.image

Feeling different: Go for the new magnetic closures or zipped satchels which have easier accessibility and are a subtle twist on the classic.imageFeeling simple: instead of the classic satchel, the company also make cute over the shoulder bags with a simple clasp closure; perfect for a more formal look. My fave is the new cloud bag which has a scalloped edge.

Beauty review: St Tropez gradual tan in shower lotion

wpid-fullsizerender.jpgAfter never being a fan of streaky self tan and all the hype of this new product from the tanning Gods St Tropez, I had to try this must have summer product.

My first thought was that you may not be able to see exactly where the tan has been applied, as it develops gradually unlike most other tanning products. However, on application the slight lather that appears is an easy and simple guide to follow.

On my first week I applied the tan three times over seven days. Sticking to the instructions I left it on for three minutes and then washed off as you would any other shower gel. Warning: this will feel like forever when you are just standing in the shower trying not to move. I avoided the face area and instead only applied up to my neck so there was no tan build up or disaster patchiness.

The results: I didn’t feel as though the tan was as dramatic as advertised. I did see some results, a gradual glow began to appear which was even and without blotches or patches. My initial thoughts were that it would be perfect for a quick fix for a summer weekend. I initially wasn’t thrilled nor did I believe it was a staple summer item.

After a couple of weeks I decided to try again. By now it was in every magazine and on every celebrity, it surely must work.

This time I experimented with leaving the tan on for ten minutes. Yes a big risk which could have so easily gone wrong but I really wanted this to work. The day after I saw dramatic results with a deeper glow but no fake tan orangness in sight, it actually looked natural and there was no generic fake tan smell in sight. Day two I continued the ten minute tanning which depended the tan further and I didn’t feel as though there was any need to reapply for a third time. After a week now I’m still getting comments that I look browner and people didn’t instantly assume I’ve been dunked in fake tan.

The Verdict: Give it a chance and trust your instincts by leaving it on for a few minutes longer. I wouldn’t advise longer than ten minutes and cannot be hold responsible for any mishaps! Overall I’d say this is a really good product that is easy to apply, simple to use and worth every penny. The bottle is big enough for numerous uses without feeling like your washing away your hard earned cash. Oh and I got it on three for two at Boots so that’s even more the reason to try it!
