Having their moment… Party bags

No I don’t mean the ones you get at a five year olds birthday party, I mean the bags that complete any outfit, whether you are going to the work office party or for Christmas dinner with your old school friends that you haven’t seen in years.

If you want to stand out from the crowd, don’t just pull our your plain leather clutch or your boring chained suede bag. Mix it up with frills, embellishment, velvet, shapes and prints! High streets are jumping on board and are bringing out amazing bags at bargain prices! I will definitely be getting the embellished floral bag from asos as pictured below!

December must haves

This winter, make sure you are knitted out with three of the best trends this winter:
1. Ankle boots. Each season we see clothing trends mirrored in shoe trends. This season is all about embroidery, velvet and patent. Embroidery is for the more daring, making any outfit instantly a statement look. I already bought mine from Asos back in August, but they are only getting bigger and better and more embroidered! Velvet is a more subtle way to jazz up your ankle boots, making them look extremely luxurious and plush. Or go one step further and combine print and velvet, why not!? Last but not least is the patent boot, which has been around for years but has been reinvented using bright colours and tonal prints, what’s not to love?

Here are a few of my favourites:

2. Staple skirts. Embroidery and velvet also feature in skirts, with the addition of pleats and tulle midi’s. Dress them up or down, add flat shoes or heels, these skirts can take you anywhere. My favourite is the pleated midi skirts, team these with a chunky roll neck during the day and transform to a plain Bardot top for the evening.

3. Winter knitwear. No one wants to look like they are wearing thousands of layers during the winter, regardless of how cold it is. Make sure this winter you combine the latest trends with comfortable cables. These knit picks will be sure to do both st the same time, double tick.

Pleats updated

Finally a new take on the traditional pleat has arrived. Plisse!

This is a form of pleat, where the fabric is puckered or crinkled permanently to give a beautiful effect. The shops are completely saturated with this fabric in every way possible. Whether its evening gowns, culottes or simple tshirts, there are a million ways to add a piece of plisse to your wardrobe. Better still, it won’t cost you an arm and a leg, what are you waiting for?

November must have.. The leopard boot!

Definitely on my wish list this year is a leopard print boot!

They are eye catching and daring but will transform any outfit, especially chunky winter knitwear.

Which will you choose?

Craving Corduroy

Yes I did just say Corduroy, the once outdated, strange texture that doesn’t make any garment look good.. Until now.

I’ve seen a few people brave the cord when I’ve been out and about which has peaked my interest somewhat. Now the day has finally come as Topshop are first to catch onto the trend spanning from dresses to jeans. However this new take on cord is fresh and appealing! Hurrah!

Here are my favourites from Topshop’s new collection…

image1. A-line buttoned skirt £30, a new take on suede and perfect for sunny days or thrown on with tights for the arrival of Autumn. 2. Burgundy skinny jeans £42, coloured jeans are also making their mark on the high street so this tackles both trends in one. 3. Patterned cord crop top £42, is this even cord? Yes! If your not convinced on cord then this is perfect for you. 4. Tan pinafore dress £50, I love the school dress nod in this cute dress, perfect for festivals or layering. 5. Printed 70’s mini skirt £42, again it doesn’t even look like cord, the autumnal colours are perfect for any occasion. 6. Black bomber jacket £48, I love this jacket! It’s cool and would compliment any outfit, ideal to throw on!

It’s not only the high street that’s catching on, recently Miley Cyrus was seen in Free People cord dungarees whilst she was out and about. One for the boys too, Nick Jonas was spotted wearing a cord suit during a recent shoot. Keep your eyes peeled and I’m sure in a few months you too will be sporting something cord.

Do you think cord is fashion genius or fashion faux pas?

Glastonbury glamour

Everyones talking about it and it’s right around the corner. So you either fall into one of two categories:

1. Your so lucky and currently envied as your packing and getting ready for a week of festival antics.

2. You are currently sulking because you didn’t manage to get the sought after tickets.

If you are going, I suggest channelling the bohemian look. Effortless pieces will compliment your unwashed hair after day three and any item would be perfect thrown on with a pair of ankle wellies.

Here’s my bohemian inspiration board to resolve your last minute packing dilemmas. There’s plenty of tassels and fringing on the high street for a cheap and cheerful fix.IMG_3070

But don’t worry, if your answer was number 2, there’s always a silver lining. With what you could have spent on a Glastonbury ticket, here are a few fantastic finds you could buy instead! For this reason they are totally justifiable! Plus, they are all on sale (if you didn’t already know end of season sale has started so be prepared to get your elbows at the ready).

These perfect picks will soon demolish any Glastonbury blues.

Il let you into a little secret too; if you buy them all you’ll have 7p left over from your non existent festival ticket. Now there’s something to smile about.

What will you be wearing to Glastonbury?

Colourful culottes

It’s ever so nearly that time of year when there is guaranteed daily sunshine..I wish. But when your not sure what the weather is going to surprise you with, these colourful culottes will take you from day to night but also rain or shine. Teamed with sandals, loafers or heels and a plain white tee and you are sorted for any occasion.

I’m lusting over topshop’s colourful tropical prints but on my ultimate wish list is Mango’s denim pair. These are unique and quirky and will leave you oozing classy and cool. I’m sure they will become more and more popular but for now, take that step and be your own fashion inspiration.

If your not brave enough to try the culotte, there’s always the summer palazzo pant or maxi skirt that will combat any wardrobe worries.

What’s your favourite pair on the high street?

Summer weddings sorted

The dreaded dilemma of what to wear for a summer wedding.

For a start, there’s no guarentee that the wet stuff won’t begin to fall and ruin your short and sleeveless summer tea dress and make you feel utterly ridiculous when your stiletto’s begin to sink into the wet grass. Whats more, is it normal to go more casual or is the prom queen-style dress still the preferential choice. What do you do to combat every situation in order to have a perfect day?

1. Above all, stay classy: A wedding is made up of sitting, walking, eating, drinking and dancing, therefore the number one rule is to be comfortable but try to remain looking effortless all day and night.

2. Shoes: Stiletto’s are just a no no, unless you are wonder woman and can survive 10 hours with your feet stuffed into uncomfortable 6″ heels. Instead, go for a statement chunky sandal to compliment a simple dress or a strappy nude block heel to prevent overpowering your outfit. If you still can’t hack the heels don’t be ashamed to pull out your flats when the dancefloor is calling. However there are some perfect printed courts on the high street recently so it’s worth a look.

3. Hair: a simple up-do will stay in place throughout the day and through a potential long journey to the reception venue. Plus, it will not be affected by any suprise gales that come your way. Whereas hair that is left down may begin to misbehave during the day without any notice leaving you in a sticky situation.

4. Dress: Here’s where it gets tough so I’ve picked out a few of my faves from the highstreet to make the decision a lot easier. Don’t forget to take a simple throw on jacket for the evenings.

5. Accessories: The saying ‘less is more’ is definitely true. Keep it simple and don’t overthink it.

All white everything

White denim is a must have this summer. From the perfect knee length skirt with button detailing to exaggerated ripped boyfriend jeans, denim is an essential part of every girl’s wardrobe.

Initially I wasn’t a fan of the almost illuminous, pristine white denim, but worn in the correct way it completes any summer outfit. I particularly love oversized denim jackets. This new take on the everlasting Levi’s denim version is a welcomed arrival. Whether you are wishing for a casual day look with platform sandals or prefer an evening option with colourful pointed courts, white denim is the new staple piece for this summer.

Hot on the high street: Urban outfitters have some great girlfriend jeans in store right now. New Look have a mini denim skirt which is a perfect throw on piece. Zara have frayed denim in all shades of beautiful garments.

denim_edited-1 Top Tips for Denim:

  • Don’t buy too cheap; true denim is worth paying for (it will last a lifetime).
  • Look out for details; denim details add intricate finishing touches to what appears to be a standard garment.
  • DIY; don’t be afraid to add rips/embellishment to your garments to make a statement.
  • Double Denim; try it and don’t regret it.
